Clarence W. Bailey is committed to provide a high-quality education for all of its students using a variety of methods that help them achieve not only academic excellence but also social and personal development. One of the methods used is based on "inquiry", which helps the student to build new knowledge utilizing their previous experience. For this, the student must Ask questions, Be Open Minded and a Courageously Curious student.

Open-Mindedness Towards Better Ideas

Being open-minded means being willing to listen to the proposals of others, even if they go against our criteria. The next thing is to evaluate these opinions and decide if we consider them correct and if we can incorporate some into our point of view. 

Tips for Achieving Open-mindedness

We have to learn to think differently, following these tips:

  • Test yourself. It is good to leave the "safe zone" from time to time.

  • Question things a little more. Who said you have to accept things as they are presented to you? If something confuses you or doesn't fit, don't hesitate to question it.

  • Don't be afraid to make mistakes. It is very good to risk from time to time. Whoever does not risk does not win. We speak, of course, of measured risks. The great pro-men of the past had to take risks to achieve their goals.

  • Allow others to inspire us. Open-mindedness is closely related to humility. Those who think they know everything will never be able to learn from others and will not be able to rethink or question their ideas or beliefs.
